Platform Thinking for Data and AI: A Capability-Centric Approach (with Audience Q&A)

April 16, 2025

Prerequisite: None

Danilo Sato

VP, Global Head of AI Platforms & Engineering

Thoughtworks

This session will include a moderated Q&A featuring questions from the live audience.

Platform thinking enables organizations to maximize the value of their investments in infrastructure by enabling scaled use across multiple use cases. Without a sound platform strategy, it’s easy to end up with a complex technology landscape built using different tools, requiring different skills, ultimately leading to higher costs to operate.

In this session, Danilo Sato will explore an approach for building self-service platforms that integrate both data and AI workloads. Sato will address:

  • The value of platform thinking and self-service infrastructure in scaling AI
  • Key similarities and differences between data platforms and AI platforms—and the trade-offs of combining them vs. keeping them separate
  • Why a capability-centric approach is better than focusing on specific technologies and vendors
  • How to take an incremental approach for delivering the platform

Attendees will gain actionable insights to design and build a self-service data and AI platform that supports their organization’s ambitions.
